Yes we here in Britain do seem to have been firmly Earth bound since 1971 with regard to satellite launchers, while so many and often unlikely nations invest happily invest in a launcher capability. Given the extra ordinary level of success that our rocket programs demonstrated, isn’t it time we capitalised on all that investment in what has become a clearly proven but sadly dormant technology and got going.

Thanks for this nice post on the advancements made by the Nigerian and UK space programmes. It shows that with continued effort, the right technologies can be placed in the hands of those who need them. It is also a plus that the facilities at RAL (a very lovely site) continue to support the UK's contribution and heritage in space science and technology.

Don't get me wrong, i'm all for space exploration, or more to the point, earth observation, however the latest satellites launched have joined the plethora of existing technology that is currently orbiting the earth. Apparently over 19,000 objects have been sent into space by humans and are constantly in the Earth's orbit. Only 800 of these objects are actually functioning and therefore serving a purpose, meaning the rest is quite literally rubbish. Surely this cant be good, we have enough litter on the earth as it is, we dont need to clutter our universe aswell!

I have a few questions about SST-US. First, are they going to have their own web presence and contact information? Second, when they eventually open their California office, are they going to have events with the local AIAA chapters? I'm up with the Antelope Valley chapter, and would love to find out more about what you guys are doing.<br />
